Our Team
Steven is the CEO and cofounder of Decision Point Advisors Inc and has 30 years working in an advisory capacity for various organizations from government to public companies. His experience at Big 4 firms focusing on governance, risk and compliance (GRC) along with his time at a GRC software provider, enables him to provide innovative solutions to the challenges faced in efficiently delivering compliance programs. Passionate about emerging technologies, he believes the path to trust in processes, technology and data lie in the integration of technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain.
Doug is a cofounder of Decision Point Advisors and the Chief Operating Officer, and has 30 years of experience helping clients improve their operations across a number of industries. Doug has worked with a broad range of clients in British Columbia, across Canada and internationally. His clients know him for his practical and pragmatic approach to solving problems and helping to assist them in achieving their goals.
Geordie is our Cyber Security Practice Leader and has over 20 years of experience leading a risk-based information security program for one of Canada’s largest Credit Unions. Geordie excels at taking the fear out of what can be a very complex and technical subject. He is also known for his ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across all levels of an organization to quickly understand business needs and find practical solutions that are aligned with organizational goals.
Ashraf is a Manager with 5 years of expertise in External Audit and Risk Assurance, working with clients within a wide range of industries. With a Masters in Professional Accounting, she has both the technical and professional background in Financial Reporting, Business Process Controls, IT General Controls, IT Dependencies, and SOX Compliance. Ashraf excels in managing engagements, coaching, as well as building positive relationships while delivering high-quality service and providing clients with the confidence and solutions they need to thrive.
Catherine is a Director with a background in financial risk management, internal audit, controls consulting, and project management. She aims to be a trusted advisor and recommend solutions that mitigate financial risks, improve processes, identify cost avoidance opportunities and produce positive organizational change. Catherine has provided value-added audit services for a variety of clients, including B.C. Government entities, NYSE listed companies, and financial institutions. She has over 15 years of work experience that spans six countries and four continents.
Wyn is a Director with over 15 years of experience in business risk management. She has advised leading organizations in the US, Canada and across Asia on business risks and controls for financial reporting, compliance, operations and IT. A skilled project and stakeholder manager; Wyn works with clients to design solutions to solve business problems and has successfully delivered numerous compliance projects for our clients.
Thomas is a Senior Advisor and uses his 30 years of applied experience in data analysis, database management and technical programming to enable clients to gain greater business value from their data. His work on anti-fraud programs and controls compliance
for Fortune 100 companies enables him to provide insights into managing large and complex data environments. Thomas believes that there is “always a way” to find good solutions to complex problems.
Mike Pretorius, CISA, CIA, ACDA
Mike is a Senior Advisor with a background in Big 4 financial auditing coupled with a deep understanding of IT systems and data structures. Over his 25-year career, he has worked with numerous multi-national organizations, including real estate companies, to implement data analytics and enable confidence in their data that supports management decision making. Clients constantly praise Mike’s amazing client service that comes from his ability to communicate technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner (and South African charm.)
Fizzah is a young professional with 5 years of experience working with companies based in Germany. She has acquired strong problem-solving skills and assisted with researching on Financial institutions, Insurance and Pharmaceutical companies. Through her
interdisciplinary studies in Management Control, she has knowledge in Financial Controlling as well as in Strategic and Project Management. Fizzah aims to improve client’s satisfaction with providing unique solutions to problems.
